Second "Posterized" family photo
This is the second set of siblings on the family photograph of members I need to do some research on. I like the term R. Garriott used to describe my previous painting of it looking "posterized."
I love this style and think it's an excellent treatment for your family B&W photos. 'Posterized' is a good descriptor - limited palette and outlined shapes, and you've handled it beautifully.
Yes, Sheila...."posterized" is an apt description. The sameness of expression (straight faced)on the faces of all three lends an air of other-worldly mystery.
Hello there, Sheila! I'm glad you are back! I met another foresic artist/ fine artist today and thought about you! This painting is great- I love your style of people painting!
it is a nice bold straightforward approach. Nice style and veryt personal. Hope your art interuptions are well taken care of and you are back on stride again. God bless,
Just popped over from R.Garriott's site ..... nice to see you challenging a new direction in your life. Funnily, I left Japan to start a new life painting in France :-) I like the bold handling of your family and that you didn't just copy the photo as it is. Good luck with the paintings.

A very interesting piece, Sheila. I like RGarret's description. Very effective.
I'm sorry to hear that life has been throwing some curve balls. May they all straighten out and fly right!
Very nice. I agree, posterized is a good description. Very modern-looking.

Sheila!
Do you know if any of these relatives are still alive?
How long ago was the photo taken?

Love your treatment of this piece. There is a nostalgic feel mixed with a very modern POP of yellow. Great painting!
Wonderful job, Sheila, I really like the style.

I like your new painting! Also glad that some other people get the use of the posterized term, too.
Sheila, its a great painting, you have kept it simple and it looks nice and bold. I think it really works, you should definitely do more:)
So nice to see you back and painting and posting dear Sheila. What a beautiful 'posterized' work - whatever that means, I think it's great!
