Peace Orchids

18x24 oil on canvas
DPW painting challenge
Auction price starts at $25
Bid by visiting their website HERE

This is my first entry for the Daily Paint Works Challenge. I will be honest and had tried to paint to enter twice before but I didn't think my work was up to par at that time. What really pushed me this time is the proceeds going to benefit people and pets devastated by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan through the auction of these paintings.

My painting was inspired by a beautiful photograph shot by a talented friend Susanne Uy who generously allowed me to use her photo as inspiration. Thank you Susanne!

Sheila, your latest paintings are beautiful, esp. Ruby Red Orchids and Peace Orchids. I am keeping your relatives and friends in Japan in my prayers.

This is just beautiful, Sheila. It is like looking at an orchid plant outside with the branch lazily moving in the breeze. The sun in the distance...sigh...

great job. And such a worthy cause. We have a grandson working relief and rescue for the U S Navy over there and pray every day for his safety. What a great human tragedy and what a sense of pride to see all who are working to help out.

Beautiful, Sheila, with luscious texture. The design is very interesting -- nice that your friend gave you permission to paint from her photo. I also like that hint of yellow-green in the left corner that suggests foliage to me.

I wish you success in raising money for the people and pets in Japan. We are all so saddened by the tragedy there.
