"mom and me"

I was on Facebook when I saw this small grainy B&W photo pop up on my friend's profile. He titled it: "mom and me" and I'm suspecting it is an image close to 40 years old. I don't know what it is about the simple act of a mom holding on to a son's hand but I feel it symbolizes the eternal bond a mother and son have for one another. Though he will most likely love and live with another, his first love will always be his mom. Thank you David for allowing me permission to use this precious image.

Precious image indeed, Sheila. You've handled this so beautifully! What a timelessness there is in this one too.

Sheila, wonderful -- I like the way you abstracted the background, which complements the figures without distracting us with their surroundings. This year I am thinking a lot about backgrounds, so that is why I especially noticed this treatment. The love is evident between mother and son. Being the mother of two sons, I empathisize.

I agree, Sheila! There is definitely an eternal bond between mother and child.

A touching painting.

Wonderful interpretation of the photo, Shelia! I like the way the shadows suggest detail and that background works perfectly.
