A "Little Landscape"

This little landscape was based on a friend's photo taken of our California hills. Painting smaller is in no way easier!

It's not easier - but what a great result!! I love those trees, and great color combinations too.

Sheila Van Gogh! Your brush work and the luminosity of the paint is beautiful to behold. I love the motion in this one.

Wow Sheila, this is really good! Captures the two trees alive on a windy (?) day.

I totally understand... I think it's harder to paint a smaller painting than a larger one too. This is a GORGEOUS landscape painting!!

It might not be easier, but you NAILED it! Great job, Sheila. This has the feel of a continuation of your exploration of Van Gogh from a few posts ago. I love the movement you convey with your brushwork. -Don

I think this came out beautifully, Sheila. Your pieces have a wonderful style all their own and I love coming back to visit. I am always left wanting more! I love the colors in this piece, the impasto effects, the motion that is implied in the shifting sands/ground. Just gorgeous!

Sheila, I don't know if you realize how fortunate you are to have these hills in your life. This is a wonderful, simple, lush painting. I liked your 'thankfulness' drawing, too!

Beautiful loose work, Shelia! Yep, you'd think small is easer...sort of like thinking "loose" is easier, but both are very difficult to pull off. Great job!

Wonderful little painting, Sheila, it's very atmospheric.

Well done Sheila, love the loose quality in your work! Sorry I haven't been around much to comment lately...I'll do better in 2010! :)
