Most of you are probably too young to remember but Brownies were the cool camera for its day. It was lightweight and compact and rather stylish. My neighbor has a couple of vintage cameras and I snapped a pic (with my digital) of his Brownie. I loved the sound of the flash when it popped followed immediately with the crackle of the plastic protective coating around the bulb as it bubbled and warped from the heat of the light burst. Talk about patience in waiting for those photos to develop. Boy are we spoiled now.10x8 oil on canvas

SHHH - don't tell, but I remember the Brownie camera! Great job in painting it! You could do a whole series with this one camera.
The painting looks great. Nice camera, very well placed and expressed.
I love this!
I love it. I am always drawn to your lovely brushwork :)
Awesome reflections there, Sheila. I think I am older than you are but I don't remember these cameras. I have heard of them though and I've seen them in antique stores. My dad used to have an old Polaroid that popped out pictures instantly. He then had to develop them by rubbing a wand of some fluid or other across them. I remember how proud he was of that camera back in the day! LOL
well done Sheila!
I had forgotten that sound but you are so right. My first camera. Great job on presenting it.
Im too young! and too young to remember vespas too hehe. I just love the way you can make anything fun Sheila, the vibrant colours and expressive brushwork is a delight, it shows your personality
WOW! Really great job on this, Sheila! Love that black next to the soft gold background.
Nice job on this one. A very nostalgic piece.
Sheila, It is always a pleasure to hear from you. I am loving your vespa series, but this camera has my heart. It was my first camera, and you reminded me about flash. I can smell those burning bulbs right now. I think this is my favorite of your paintings, love the background which really relates to the flash aspect of the camera. Well done!
