My first equine portrait
Please go to the AFSA blog to find out why I decided to try and paint something I didn't think I could.
This is awesome. Wow, this should give you the momentum to continue to try other things too as you did a marvelous job with this. I wish my first attempts at things would turn out as well. You rock!
Oh my goodness. He's magnificent! Love the strong strokes that show his facial structure and muscle, the colors and kind eyes. You really can paint any subject well!
Ooooo, gyouzu! Keep painting, keep believing in yourself. It starts out slowly, but snowballs into something big. The pace you are going at right now is the right pace. Did you get on the internet the other day????????
This is quite good, Sheila. I don't think there is anything you can't do! My friend/artist Dawn would love this as she and her husband just bought a farm and currently have two horses amongst many other animals.

Nice painterly style, Sheila.
Fantastic! Your colors values are wonderful and I just love it!
Sheila, you sure seem to know horses and I can't believe this is your first equine portrait! I like your brushstrokes and colors. Great job!
Sheila!
I think the drawing aspect of this piece is well done. You got the horse's likeness down pat.
Also, the colors are a bit more natural looking in this one compared to your more recent pet portraits.
Here the rich browns are slightly intense but not over the top. This works nicely against the muted chartreuse background.
And the close-up composition keeps it interesting.
Nice job!
