My first Moleskin contribution - IZ

this is watercolor

This is my first contribution to the Flying Moleskins Project. Edward Burton chose his theme to be music. When my daughter danced hula and Tahitian with the renown Na Hula 'O Moku'aina dance company for five years, I fell in love with the culture. Kumu Catherine Blakenship is a very talented teacher, singer and gifted choreographer. Her instruction for new dances always included a history and cultural lesson. This is my dedication for her work in preserving a beautiful art and culture.

Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole is a Hawaiian Icon. If you go to the Flying Moleskins Project webpage, you can listen to his rendition of the song "Over the Rainbow" which gained him National attention.

Great job, Sheila! Nicely done musical theme. What medium is this done in?
I've heard his version of "Over The Rainbow" before and loved it. Thanks for letting me know who the version belongs to.

Wow......... how moving his voice is. What a wonderful piece for Edward and I love how you included the video. It's too bad it can't be put in the moleskins.

Sheila- I love this project and I enjoy all of your work. You have a freedom of spirit in your paintings- an effortlessness- a lack of self consciousness that is very appealing. I assume these very real qualities were what made you such a successful forensic artist- I'm glad that you get to do less immediate and gut wrenching work now.

Hey, Sheila...I like the music here and on the Moleskins..Over the Rainbow is very nice. I will check out IZ further. A beautiful voice...I can see why he's so popular...everywhere but "all you can eat" buffet restaurants. Actually, I thought I saw him over in Marble Falls last week. But it was a Volkswagen.
