So...

No big commission from yesterday but I did get some more cat food for a 'pleine air' commission for another shop employee.  She want a painting for her daughter's birthday present in May.

She gave me two photo references.  One was in a frame with a collage of images you see a bit of on the right.  She then gave me a B&W photo of the pose she wanted to have the dogs in.  Mind you, the heads in the photo were about the size of a nickel.

Business was slow anyway because there was a Civil War reenactment occurring down the street.  She wanted a bigger canvas so I drove home (15 minute round trip) and got an 11x14 canvas board.

I then spent the remaining time I had for my "Meet the artist" event painting inside the store.  [about 2 and a half hours]

Sorry about the quality of the photo but I forgot my camera and used my phone to capture the images so I could leave the painting with her.

That was it!  I got several inquiries and we'll see if that results in anything.  HUGS! Oh, reminder.. contest ends tomorrow...

You are as resourceful as you are talented! Many people would give up if they didn't have right sized brush, let alone drive home for a new canvas! And the result is great -- love your colours.

Nicely done! I think it's amazing you can invent color from a black and white reference.

Thanks what the framed photo on the right was for... the collage of dogs had the color but not the pose she wanted...

Hey luv those dogs! by the way the question u had about the websites um Heroes of the World website isn't mine those are my friends. But everything else is done by me. and the www.studiodyv.com, the main layout was done by my friend Genevieve and i adjusted everything as time went by. you know if ur lookin for a design of a website i could do a concept design for you. It depends if you have a loose time schedule for that =).

You did an amazing job based on a nickel-sized photo. And nice of you to get a larger canvas! Gosh. Hope some good commissions come out of your efforts.

Of all your recent pet paintings, Sheila, this one has a more illustrative feel.

The others are usually more painterly/fine art but this one, with the bold black lines and intense colors, makes it more on the graphic/illustration side.

A nice little change!
