My journey from a technical and strict discipline of forensic and composite art to fine art. I'm trying to unfurl my wings to fly into this new field but I'm still struggling to get out of my cocoon! "To be an artist is to believe in life." -Henry Moore (1898-1986)

Reflection
Have you ever gone into a room and felt someone was there but after turning quickly you were surprised to see there was no one? I had started with one painting and scraping down the failure on this canvas. It was a horizontal painting and as I used a thinner to wipe down one side, I though I could see a face emerge from the Pthalo Blue blob. I continue to try and wipe it down but it would not dissappear. I'm not saying I had one of those "Jesus in a grilled cheese sandwich" moments but I decided to work around it. I framed it and surrounded it with complimentary color so it wasn't so obvious. Do you see this as a reflection or someone peering in through a foggy window? Oil, 16x30.

Sheila, I do see an upside-down face of a man. Maybe this is one of those cases you worked on in the past. I'm getting goose bumps...
I did see the face after I looked at it again, my first impression was how tranquil and soft the shapes and colors are. I've loved visiting your blog, you've had a very interesting career. So much fun to read about!
Hi Sheila!
Welcome to the world of blogging artists! And thank you for your visit to my blog...
You are doing wonderful work already - I wonder where you will be at by the end of this year??? I can definitely see a shape in the window - a person from just above the waist upward, with the left arm toward the window. There is a "halo" behind the person as though there were curtains on either side, and light deep behind in the room. How cool is that? And how observant are you!!!
I look forward to visiting you again, keeping track of your journey into the fun (and frustration at times) of fine art. All the best for 2009!

Oooooh spooky! Very cool...and beautiful painting to boot!
Your profile is so interesting! I have a hard time believing your worked as a police officer for 26 years...that's how old you look!
Best wishes in 2009! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Thanks for your comment on Dexter, Shelia! I have enjoyed clicking on your blog through the DSFDF after I saw the portrait you did. Nice work! And forensics- how VERY interesting!
Happy new year and keep up the great work!
