Only a face a mother could love
So this was a gift for a friend. 6x8 oil on canvasboard. Since their French Bulldog is a male, I thought a blue back ground would be nice. She said the blue was a "concern" and so I scraped and changed it to fit her homescape of deep green and pumpkin. Now it looks like he's trying to lick the background. Ah well, at least she's happy.

Nice painting. I feel like I'm saying, "roll over, roll over" and the dog is just looking at me with that puzzled stare wondering why I don't give it the goodie in my hand.
Fantastic doggy painting. Bulldogs (the English ones) are my favourite and you're right, only a mother could love it. Those eyes are pleading with just a hint of 'you better do it now'.
Real nice painting, Sheila! I love it...hey, Mom, that makes two of us!

Bulldogs are funny and this one is no exception. His eyes and tongue are perfect. Very nice Sheila.
You have a real knack for capturing animal expressions! Wonderful and I'm glad to hear you managed to make the recipient happy -- there is always that decorating element that messes with our art.
What a cute painting - I love the eyes and that tongue. Great gift.
This is lovely - lots of character and expression!
Wonderful painting, Sheila! Great character. VERY nice job!
Hello and good morning,
Thanks again for stopping by.Good to see your name again.
I like this character. The title is perfect!
Regarding your question:
I found the ideas from magazines and catalogs and newspapers. You name it and I have it.
I am a news junky no wonder I found my ideas in those papers.
I am not trying to make portraits. Only aiming on the pose and proportion. The rest are my own imagination and mood.
When this one came up on my computer, Pokey and Taco Bell growled at it. I am assuming that is a tribute to its realism. Excellent, Sheila...really like the eyes.
Wonderful painting of this adorable dog!!
Hi Sheila
Another clever painting here.
He looks a little terror.
Kind Regards
